Transhelvetica & Zurich Chinatown – A Lucky Match for the Year of the Snake

Updated: Apr 11

Shedding skins, flowing like rivers, embracing the twists of life

In many cultures, snakes are creatures of mystery, wisdom, and transformation. Still, let’s be honest—snakes also scare people. They’re silent and often misunderstood. So 2025—the Year of the Snake—might be the perfect time to look a little closer.

The latest edition of Transhelvetica, Switzerland’s most poetic travel magazine, does exactly that. Since 2010, their editors have unearthed the most clever, adventurous, and beautiful stories to make us travel differently. This Year of the Snake issue invites us to choose curves over corners and intuition over control.

Inside the issue, you’ll find:

  • Snakes in Switzerland, beautifully illustrated and introduced like old friends

  • Serpentine shapes in Bern – from the flowing Aare to curling door handles and curvy facades

  • The snake as metaphor – explored through poetry, art, and reflection

  • Exotic reptiles in Swiss zoos – plus where to see these stunning creatures up close

For us at Zurich Chinatown, this issue couldn’t come at a better time. Like the snake, we’ve shed our old skin—emerging with fresh energy, deeper roots, and a renewed love for Asian culture in all its complexity.

We’ve partnered with Transhelvetica to give away 8 COPIES of this special edition – a small gift to inspire your own transformation.
